In your own words. Tell us a bit about yourself…
My name is Michael Summerville aka Mickey Blue Eyes, I was born in Edmonton North London and grew up in Norfolk and then back to London at the age of 18. I am 58 and married to Rae, one of our lovely merch girls and we live in Coventry, the home of 2 Tone. The other loves of my life are Tottenham Hotspur and Staffordshire Bull Terriers
How did you learn to sing?
I was asked to get on stage and sing skinhead girl with a band called Covered In Skas, 2 members were Keith and Angie who started the Dekkertones and I joined them, with Tina joining not long after and we remain the 2 original members from the 1st gig in Stevenage 11 years ago
What inspired you to get into music and who are your biggest influences?
Angie, Keith and Jeff Freeman from Covered in Skas inspired and encouraged me with Jeff being my biggest influence

my favourite song to play live is Chase The Devil
What’s your favourite thing about being a Dekkertone?
The commerardery and friendships
What’s the worst thing to happen to you at a gig?
Nothing really bad, thankfully
What’s your favourite lyric and how does it relate to you?
Skinhead Girl, reminds me of my younger days, going to gigs and starting in the band
If The Dekkertones were stranded on a desert island, who would you sacrifice first?
I wouldn't sacrifice any as if we were stranded a long time I may need them as food
What would you say to someone who thinks ska music is for old timers?
Ska is for everyone and timeless
If you had to pick a different genre to play, what would it be and why?
Punk And Oi, grew up with it, love it
What’s your drink of choice on gig night?
Tea
If you could collaborate with any ska legend, who would it be?
Desmond Dekker, was lucky to meet him in 1982 in Yarmouth and have a chat
If you could enforce any band rule, what would it be?
Show love and respect for each other and have fun
If The Dekkertones were a TV show, who would be the villain and who would be the hero?
I would be the hero and make Droz my villian
